Rosie the Riveter Celebration Seeking Volunteers
The City of Long Beach is holding its second annual celebration of "Rosie the Riveter" to help put on the second annual Rosie the Riveter celebration Saturday, May 10. The Rosie the Riveter Task Force, chaired by Long Beach 5th District City Councilwoman Gerry Schipski, celebrates the thousands of women who participated in the war mobilization during World War II. The Task Force is asking for volunteers among faculty, staff and students from the LBCC community to join with student interns from CSULB to help make information boards. The three boards' themes are "What happened to the women after the war ended?", "What kind of jobs did the women work?" and one board about the Douglas plant in general at the time of the war.
